Halim favours floriculture study in higher education

Barrackpore, Jan 1 (UNI) West Bengal Asembly Speaker Hasim Abdul Halim today said that introduction of floriculture as a vocational course in the higher education would help redressing unemployment in the state.

Inaugurating a 5-day flower show at Rahara Ramakrishna Mission Boys Home, Khardah in North 24 Parganas, Mr Halim observed that floriculture has huge potentiality as climate of the state suits it. It has also very large and growing market in home and abroad, he added.

State Finance minister Asim Dasgupta, Transport minister Subhas Chakrabarty, Rabindra sangeet exponent from Bangladesh Ms Shyama Rahman and film artist Geeta Dey were among others spoke on the occasion.

The show, being organised by Khardah Pushpa Mela Committee comprising mostly of the ruling political party members, who also take part in reformation and betterment of the people.
