Balamuralikrishna to receive 'Ghantasala' award

Vijayawada, Jan 1 (UNI) Renowned carnatic maestro Mangalampalli Balamuralikrishna would be presented with the 'Ghantasala' award by the Dilip Kumar Cultural Academy at a function here tomorrow.

Academy president Dilip Kumar told UNI here today that the award was given twice every year to commemorate the birth and death anniversaries of legandary singer Ghantasala.

He said though the academy had decided to give the award to Balamuralikrishna on the occasion of Ghantalasa birth anniversary on December 4 last, it was being presented now as he was pre-occupied.

He said prominent personalities, who had received the Ghantasala award, included playback singer Mano, P Suseela, Music composers Koti, Mani Sarma, R P Patnayak, Devisree Prasad and Ramana Gogula.
