Air Marshal S K Bhan takes charge of Eastern Air Command

Kolkata, Jan 1 (UNI) Air Marshal S K Bhan today took over as the new Air-Officer Commending in-Chief, Eastern Air Command.

He succeeded Air Marshal P K Barbora, who took over as AOC in C Western Air Command, also today.

Air Marshal Shiv Kumar Bhan (58), graduated from the National Defence Academy in 1969 and joined the Air Force Academy to undergo flying training. He was commissioned in the force in December 1970 as a fighter pilot. He has flown over 3000 hours on Hunder, Sukhoi-7, Mig-21 and Mig-23 aircraft. He graduated as a Fighter Combat Leader in 1980.

He has held various staff and field appointments before being elevated to the present post.
