A BESCOM Jr. Engineer arrested for accepting bribe

Bangalore, Jan 1 (UNI) Bangalore Electricity Supply Company(BESCOM), Soladevanahalli, Junior Engineer T Venkatesh was caught red handed while accepting bribe for showing official favour, yesterday.

Lokayukta, in a release here today, said that Venkatesh was arrested while accepting Rs 5000 from M Hanumantharaju of Chikkabanavara for providing electric connection which had been illegally drawn for newly purchased pump set.

Venkatesh, who visited the spot, had already collected Rs 4,000 and demanded Rs 5000 more for the purpose and was arrested.

The arrested was remanded to judicial custody by the court.

In another trap, Lokayukta police today arrested a Revenue Inspector Mohana Thippanna of Dharwad rural taluk for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 1000 to recommend the application of Malliaiah Siddaramaiah Guddadamut to grant a handicap pension to his deaf and dumb Son Siddaramaiah Mallaiah Guddadamut.
