60 tourists rescued from floating restaurant

Puducherry, Jan 1 (UNI) As many as 60 tourists, stranded in a floating restaurant in the Ossudu Lake were, rescued by the police and public here this evening.

Police said there was a heavy rush at the Ossudu Lake on the occasion of New Year.

The tourists boarded the floating restaurant enjoying the evening when the engine conked out and the boat began moving in the direction of the wind. The panicked tourists raised an alarm.

The police and public swung into action and brought the restaurant close to the shore using ropes.
