338 errant drivers booked on New Years Eve

Mumbai, Jan 1 (UNI) The traffic department of the city police registered as many as 338 cases yesterday on the eve of new year, against errant vehicle riders.

Speaking at a function, Deputy Commissioner of Police of Mumbai Traffic Department Harish Baijal said, 338 errant drivers were booked on the eve of new year on the charges ranging from rash driving to drunken driving. The culprits have been remanded for a day, he stated.

Mr Baijal said that he has requested the court to award stringent punishment to the accused as the fine amount is meagre for the affluent youngsters, who are slushed with funds and do not mind paying the fine, after abusing the traffic constables.
