New Delhi, Dec 31 (UNI) Taking note of the reports of on impending hike in the prices of petroleum products and cooking gas, the Telugu Desam Party today urged the UPA Government to reduce the sales tax and customs duty to reduce the burden on the common man.

TDP Parliamentary Party leader K Yerrannaidu in a statement said that the Centre should advise the States to reexamine the tax sytem and spare the common man from the burden of the price rise. All the political parties in the country were opposed to the hike which would cause undue hardship to the common man and the UPA government had already imposed price rise on six occassions during the last three and half year regime. The people and political parties were unhappy about the turn of events and the TDP would support all agitations against the price rise to express its sympathy, he said.
