Seven arrested in two extortion cases

have
arrested
seven
people
in
two
separate
cases
of
extortion
during
the
last
24
hours.
Uday Kishan Pangare (46), editor of 'Lokgaurav', a Marathi monthly magazine , reporter Ramchandra Dagugade (36) and their accomplice Vaman Sogan Gansare (35) were arrested from Ghatkopar in eastern suburb of the city for allegedly demanding Rs 15,000 from a lottery shop owner. They threatened the shopowner and warned him against lodging a complaint with the police.
In another incident at Samta Nagar in Kandivali, four people Amakumar alias Raja Rajendra Kumar Singh (31), Jitendra alias Santosh, Shreekant Singh alias Munna (24), Sandeep Ramesh Gahlot (22) and Kuldeep Chandeliya Lou (30) were arrested for demanding money from a builder in Kandivali.
The accused allegedly demanded Rs 50,000 from the builder for the smooth running of his business in Kandivali area and also threatened to kill him if he failed to pay the same, sources said.
Police have registered a case of extortion against them.
