Prosecution sanctioned against 8 officials by CVC

New Delhi, Dec 31 (UNI) The Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) issued sanctions for prosecution against eight officials, including three of Central Board of Excise and Customs, two of UCO Bank, two personnel of PG and Pensions and one MCD official during November in cases of vigilance, official sources said.

Major penalty was imposed on 41 officers including 16 officials of BSNL, six of railways, five from the public sector banks, five DDA officers and two officers from MTNL.

The Commission had advised the imposition of major penalty against 39 officers including 14 DDA officials, six railway officers, five officials from the public sector banks, four BSNL officials, three officers fron insurance companies and three officials of Northern Coalfields Ltd, sources added.

The Chief Technical Examiner (CTE) organisation of the CVC submitted intensive examination reports in 12 cases of which five were in civil works, three in electrical/allied works, and four in stores/purchases. CTE's intensive examination had recovered Rs 1.96 crore during the month, sources said.

Besides, the CBI filed chargesheets in 69 cases following receipt of sanction of prosecution. The CBI also received sanction for prosecution in 42 cases from various departments.
