Lokayukta seizes property worth Rs 70 crore during year

Bangalore, Dec 31 (UNI) Karnataka Upalokayukta Justice G Patribasavanagoud today said that the Lokayukta has seized a total property worth of about Rs 70 crore in 36 raids during the current year.

Mr Patribasavanagoud told reporters that the Lokayukta conducted 36 raids on government servants, who had amassed wealth disproportionate to their known sources of income, in comparison to 27 cases last year.

He said that in the current year it had caught red handed 225 government servants while accepting the bribe to do official work of the public as against 216 cases last year.

During the year, 159 cases have been disposed off by the courts after trials, he said adding that in 130 cases charge sheets have been filed in various courts and of them 21 cases have ended in conviction.
