Abducted businessmen rescued in MP
Morena, MP, Dec 31 (UNI) Two businessmen abducted for ransom from Rajasthan's Gangapur a week back were today rescued by their friends who handed over two of the accused to police but the kidnappers later freed themselves at gunpoint.
''The victims' relatives had agreed to pay ransom of Rs 5 lakh for the release of Jagmohan Joshi and Dinesh Choubey,'' said Superintendent of Police Santosh Kumar Singh.
It was decided that the duo would be freed at Sabalgarh today. As soon as about half-a-dozen motorbike-borne abductors reached the Sabalgarh market along with the businessmen, the victims' kin and friends pounced on them, freed Mr Joshi and caught two of the accused.
Mr Choubey was later freed with police assistance. However, the accused fled after threatening the police with a revolver.
''The role of a few constables posted at Ram Mandir Police Post arouses suspicion. People blocked a road but the situation is peaceful,'' Mr Singh added.
