16 ''false'' cases against Congressmen withdrawn in Bholath
Kapurthala, Dec 31 (UNI) Police have cancelled 16 criminal cases against Congress workers in the Bholath assembly constituency as these were found ''false'', SSP Rakesh Aggarwal said here today.
While talking to media persons, the SSP disclosed police was also registering cases under section 182 IPC against those who had lodged false complaints and would also probe the involvement of any police officers in this regard.
Out of 30 cases registered against Congress workers in Bholath, 16 were found false in the inquiries conducted by senior police officers. In the remaining cases, ''chargesheets'' were put up in the courts, he said.
Regarding the new plans in the coming years, Mr Aggarwal said the district police has decided to inform the complainants about the progress in the cases through courier service within a fortnight.
