Agartala, Dec 30 (UNI) The North Eastern Development Finance Institution (NEDFi) has organised a three-day exhibition to develop direct linkage between the rural farmers and urban consumers for the indigenously grown fruits and vegetable products of the NE.

NEDFi officials said here today that the exhibition kickstarted at Guwahati on December 28 to showcase the organically grown oranges, Komal Chawl, Joha Chawl from Assam, Kiwi from Arunachal Pradesh and cashewnuts from Tripura along with the other products, including bamboo shoots, pickles and honey.

To promote organic cultivation of vegetables and fruits and facilitate the marketing links, the NEDFi launched the project in collaboration with Farmgate, the officials said, adding that it had also launched a special project for mushroom pickles.

''The NEDFi has provided a platform to promote marketing of fresh fruits and vegetables, many of which are organically grown, to motivate the rural farmers to come forward for organic farming in a big way,'' the officials added.
