Museum on Raja Ravi Varma inaugurated

Manipal, Dec 30 (UNI) The Hasta Shilpa Trust, which had reconstructed a dozen of ruined historic buildings, opened a museum on renowned artist Raja Ravi Varma here today.

Dr Rama Varma Sripathi Prasad, grandson of Raja Ravi Varma, inaugurated the museum, which would showcase archival materials connected with the printing process of the works of the noted painter.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Prasad said though his grandfather had carved a niche for himself through his paintings, he remained a 'controversial' person during his lifetime for emulating Western style in his paintings.

Trust President Mohandas Pai said all the archival materials were acquired from the press owner in Mumbai to set up this museum.
