Karunakaran meets Sonia Gandhi

New Delhi, Dec 30 (UNI) As a prelude to his re-entry into the Congress Party, former Kerala Chief Minister K Karunakaran today met party President Sonia Gandhi.

The meeting, which lasted 30 minutes, was held at Ms Gandhi's official 10 Janpath residence.

Mr Karunakaran was accompanied by Ms Mohsina Kidwai, AICC General Secretary in charge of Kerala Party Affairs, to the meeting.

This was the first meeting of Mr Karunakaran (90) with Ms Gandhi after he left the Congress to float his own political outfit, Democratic Indira Congress (DIC-K), on May 1, 2005.

Mr Karunakaran will call on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in the evening.
