Lucknow, Dec 30 (UNI) Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) today said the number of incidents, where democratic rights of the people were being affected, have increased during the present Mayawati regime in Uttar Pradesh.

The democratic rights of labours, farmers and poor people in the state were being affected during the Mayawati's regime, CPI (ML) state secretary Akhilendra Pratap Singh said here today.

''Even basic rights of the people of the state are no more safe, he underlined.

''Besides, the peaceful protestors were being opressed using force that affects the normal democratic process, '' he added.

The protesting contract-labourers at IFFCO factory in Allahabad were sent to jail by the administration, which is very sad, Mr Singh said adding, their demands should be fulfilled at the earliest and those sent behind the bars released soon.
