BrahMos-II to be inducted into defence in 5 years: Sivathanu
Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 30 (UNI) BrahMos-II, the hypersonic version of BrahMos cruise missile, will be inducted into defence forces in five years, BrahMos Aerospace Limited Chief Controller (R and D) MD and CEO A Sivathanu Pillai said today.
Talking to mediapersons here, he said the development of BrahMos- II would be completed and it would be inducted into the Indian Military Service in the next five years.
Mr Pillai said the country would continue its defence cooperation with Russia in developing advanced cruise missiles.
Claiming that the BrahMos had already established a monopoly in the sector, he said many nations had placed orders for the missile.
On setting up an aerospace unit here, he said the company would set up a full-fledged production and assembling unit here within three years and it would be developed into a major centre for production of components and integration of supersonic missle system.
The takeover of KELTEC by BrahMos was seen as a major turning point in the industrial map of Kerala as it was likely to attract Rs 1,000 crore investments in different areas in the next four years.
