Several senior PPP leaders feel that Zardari must be given a chance to lead the party, as once Benazir herself had described Zardari as the Nelson Mandela of Pakistan, a report in The News stated. The newspaper also said that in a scenario when Sanam Bhutto, the younger sister of Benazir, was not interested in taking over the party and Nusrat Bhutto, the mother of Benazir, is sick, chances of Zardari taking charge of the party are more.
According to sources, the PPP would hold an informal meeting of its central executive today at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh to draw a roadmap for future course of actions.
They also claimed that the party was intact and no leadership crisis is looming over the PPP.
