Lucknow, Dec 29: Uttar Pradesh once again reels under chilly weather as cold winds gripped the entire state, dipping the temperature to nearly two degrees Celsius.
The death toll due to cold has mounted to 59 so far, following the death of two persons in Jaunpur and one each in Sant Kabirnagar and Kaushambi. In the last 24 hrs, Kanpur, Agra, Meerut, Varanasi, Bareilly and Jhansi had witnessed remarkable dip in temperature at night. Meerut recorded the coldest with 2.2 degrees celsius, which is five degrees below normal.
Although, the state capital enjoyed a bright sunshine, cold winds continued to shiver Lucknowites.
According to Met department, in the next 24 hrs, weather would remain cold and dry.
