The students were selected from more than 2,200 media student entries across the globe, including Egypt, India, Iran, Lebanon, Pakistan, the Philippines, the UK and the UAE, for the sixth edition of the award.
Besides cash prizes, the winners were also given internship opportunities with leading media organisations such as CNN, MBC, CNBC Arabia, Nikon, Saatchi&Saatchi, Leo Burnett and Arabian Radio Network (ARN).
Launched in 2001 under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice-President and Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, Ibda'a Media Student Awards were initiated by Dubai Media City to recognise, nurture and promote young media talent. The event is organised on a yearly basis by Dubai Media City in association with the International Advertising Association (IAA).
