Malaysian PM shocked over Bhutto's killing

Singapore, Dec 28 (UNI) Malaysian Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi today expressed shock over the assassination of former Pakistan prime minister Benazir Bhutto and strongly condemned the act which also killed many innocent people.

''It is indeed very sad that such a tragedy has taken place,'' said Mr Badawi who is also chairman of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC), a 57-Muslim state grouping including Pakistan.

''The resort to extremism and violence was unacceptable and could not be tolerated anywhere at any time. The perpetrators must be brought to justice,'' he said.

He called on the People of Pakistan to remain calm and hoped that the stiuation in the country would soon stabilise.

Bhutto, 54, was gunned down yesterday in Rawalpindi by a suicide bomber.
