Election in Pakistan will go ahead as seheduled: PM

Islamabad, Dec 28 (UNI) Pakistan's is caretaker Prime Minister Mohammadmian Soomro today said the January 8 elections will go ahead as per schedule.

''Right now the elections stand as they are,'' the Prime Minister said, when asked whether any decision has been made to postpone the election.

All political parties have been invited to review the situation and chalk out a future course of action, APP quoted him as saying.

''Any decision [about election] will be taken in consultation with the political parties,'' he told reporters at a press conference after chairing a special meeting of the cabinet.

The Prime Minister also ordered judicial inquiry into the killing of Pakistan Peoples Party chairperson Benazir Bhutto.

Mr Soomro said the head of inquiry committee would be appointed in consultation with the PPP leaders and specific timeframe would be given for the submission of the inquiry report.
