Floods in Sri Lanka displaced 1,75,000 people

According
to
the
government
officials
of
Sri
Lanka,
heavy
rains
on
Monday,
December
24th
caused
a
reservoir
to
burst
its
banks
in
the
eastern
district
of
Batticaloa,
where
more
than
40,000
families
comprising
around
1,
50,000
people
were
displaced
from
their
homes.
The central district of Polonnaruwa was the second-worst hit, with around 6,500 people displaced.
