2007 was the year of political upheaval in India

New Delhi, Dec 25, 2007 : It was the year of the 'deal or no deal' as the landmark India-US civil nuclear accord took the political world on a roller coaster ride with the BJP and the communists refusing to back the deal and threatening mid term polls.

Rahul Gandhi was appointed as the All India Congress Committee General Secretary in a party secretariat reshuffle. The year also saw the country"s 1st woman President, the UPA and Left nominated Pratibha Patil.
