Russia urges Pakistani politicians to show self-restraint
Moscow, Dec 27 (UNI) Strongly condemning the killing of former Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, Russia today urged all the responsible forces in Pakistan to show maximum self-restraint.
''We strongly condemn this act which has whipped up increasing wave of bloody terrorist acts and assassination attempts at prominent politicians recently in Pakistan, Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
We deeply express our condolences to Benazir Bhutto's relatives and all the victims of this tragedy, the statement said.
''It is particularly important now that all the responsible political forces in Pakistan show maximum self-restraint, ignore extremist provocations and do everything possible for dealing a decisive blow to international terrorist forces that are actively trying to take advantage of the difficult situation in Pakistan in the run-up to the parliamentary elections scheduled for January 8, 2008," it noted.
