R & R forge JV with Sequel for high end electronic repairs

Bangalore, Dec 27: Bringing in the high end technology of LCD panel repair into India, city-based Repair and Return (R and R) Pvt Ltd and Sequel technology Inc of Taiwan have inked a joint venture agreement.

The two companies would be setting up a state-of-the-art LCD panel repair services for monitors and laptops and other after market services (AMS) for both electronic industry and consumers. Later they would expand to take up repairs of cell phone and LCD TVs. Briefing newspersons on the tie-up here last night Sequel Managing Director David Chao said India had the infrastructure that had remained largely untapped.

"India is now sending its LCDs for repair to China and Tiwan and this JV would help us offer the high-tech services within India. R and R will also provide logistics to our global customers. We will be investing two million US dollars to set up the facility in Bangalore. We have technology to repair LCD panels from 15 to 65 inches," he said.

R and R Chairman R Jayakumar said the JV would pave the way for Global high end electronics manufacturers' to outsource repairs and services to India. Sequel would provide us the technology to repair LCD panels and in return pickup 9.25 per cent of stake in R and R.

M V N Prasad GM of R and R said the partnership would bring branded repair service into India and add value to global brands that includes defective pickup, problem screening and validation.
