Power production in VTPS second unit hit

Vijayawada, Dec 27 (UNI) Power production at the second unit of the Vijayawada Thermal Power Station (VTPS), producing 210 MW of power, was disrupted following a minor fire in the unit.

However, power production was restored in the afternoon.

Talking to UNI here, VTPS Chief Engineer Ratna Kumar said oil leakage on cotton waste in the unit resulted in the fire after electrical sparks fell on it.

The VTPS had six units, with each unit producing 210 MW of power.
