My Govt will encourage scientists: CM
Puducherry, Dec 27 (UNI) The Puducherry administration would take steps to encourage young scientistsin this union territory, Chief Minister N Rangasamy said today.
Speaking at the Valedictory function of the 34th Jawharlal Nehru National Science Exhibition here, Mr.Rangasamy said the administration would enhance financial assistance being provided to young scientists from Rs 3000 to Rs 5000. Financial assistance was being provided to ten young scientists here through the science and technology, and enviornment department of the territorial administration, he said, adding it is proposed to increase the number of beneficieres.
The Chief Minister also said in case a Puducherry scientist comes up with some invention at the national level, the administration would adopt that person and bear all expenses for future work.
He said the administration proposes to set up a research laboratory here for the benefit of the students engaged in new inventions.
Education Minister M O H F Shajahan, NCERT Director Prof G Ravindra, legislator A Anbazhagan and Puducherry Municipal Chairperson Dr Sreedevi also participated in the function.
