Bangladesh on high security alert after Bhutto's assassination

Dhaka, Dec 27 (UNI) The Bangladeshi authorities have put the capital Dhaka on high security alert following the assassination of Pakistan's former Prime Minister Banazir Bhutto in Rawalpindi today.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Naim Ahmed said ''security has been beefed up in the capital including the diplomatic enclaves of Gulshan following the killing of Benazir Bhutto .'' Law enforcing agencies were asked to keep a strict vigil on the stranded Pakistani camps throughout the country particularly in Mirpur and Mohammadpur in Dhaka, a senior police official said.

More than 2,50,000 stranded Pakistanis have been staying in the camps since the country's independence in 1971.
