Tsunami-hit orphans rebuilding their lives

Nagapattinam (Tamil Nadu), Dec 26: Orphaned kids in Tamil Nadu"s Nagapattinam District are trying to rebuild their lives at relief centres three years after the Tsunami hit parts of the State.

The Annai Sathya Tsunami Rehabilitation Centre is home to 79 orphaned children, who avail of all the facilities such as food, clothing and medication. "Seventy-nine children - 65 girls and 14 boys - are staying here after the tsunami. We are providing them with all facilities, including education," said Sathya, the hostel in-charge. All expenses are borne by the State Government. Asaithambi, who is staying at the rehabilitation centre, said the centre was taking special care of each orphan. Over 7,000 people were washed away in Tamil Nadu by the December 26, 2004 Tsunami. ANI>
