Smart cards, bar coded scanner for Toll Nakas

Thane, Dec 26 (UNI) The State Government will soon introduce smart cards and bar coded scanner at various 'Toll Nakas' of the state in order to ease traffic jams.

This was announced by Konkan Division Graduates Constituency MLC Sanjay Kelkar at a press conference here today.

Mr Kelkar pointed out that despite the construction of flyovers to save fuel, time and money, there are still serpentine queues at various 'Toll Nakas'. Hence, there is a need for the implementation of a modern system.

He said the minister concerned has assured him that the State Government is working on a scheme to speed up the work of smart cards and bar coded scanner for 'Toll Nakas'.

Six years ago, the ministry had drawn an ambitious plan of setting up modern 'Toll Nakas' with smart cards and bar coded scanner at Vashi on an experimental basis.
