Jaipur, Dec 26 (UNI) Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje has sought Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's intervention for immediate release of funds for projects under the Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission.

The funds are meant for effective implementation of Rs 5900 crore project for strengthening of basic urban infrastructure in Jaipur, Ajmer and Pushkar towns.

In a letter to Dr Singh, Ms Raje stated that the state government had sent a Rs 4900 crore project for strengthening of the urban infrastructure and a Rs 1000 crore project for creating basis public amenities in slum areas in the three cities which house 20 per cent of the total state population.

The Urban Development Ministry had already accorded its approval to the schemes.

However, against the state government's demand, the Centre had so far released grants of Rs 598.69 crore and Rs 368.86 crore for the two projects, the Chief Minister added.

She urged the Prime Minister to ensure due budgetary allocations for early release of the funds for catering to the needs for the projects of the state government.
