Nobel laureate in Gwalior

Gwalior, Dec 26 (UNI) Mr Roger de Cornwar, who received last year's Nobel Prize for Chemistry, today highlighted the importance of studying and understanding the truths of Mother Nature.

''During my adolescence, my teacher once conducted an experiment using copper sulphate solution. That made me understand the basis of diffusion and I decided to study the rate of movement of atoms through membranes. Ultimately, the high point of my research was obtaining genetic information through transcription of Deoxyribo Nucleic Acid,'' he said while addressing students as chief guest at the ITM Universe College here.

Earlier, Mr Cornwar, Bhopal's Rajiv Gandhi Technology University Vice-Chancellor P B Sharma and his Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education counterpart Major-General (Retd) S N Mukherji were welcomed. The Nobel laureate answered questions of researchers, intellectuals and students.

In another session, Mr Cornwar interacted with scientists and researchers.
