Mother abandons dead infant at hospital

Madurai, Dec 26 (UNI) In a shocking incident, a mother abandoned her female new-born after it died, at the Government Rajaji Hospital (GRH) here today.

Hospital sources said Meenakshi of Alankanallur Village, near here was admitted to the hospital by her relatives last week after she developed labour pain.

She delivered the baby on Saturday last. However, it died of an ailment last night.

The woman was then given the news by the hospital authorities.

However, she disappeared this morning reluctant to take the body of the infant.

Personnel of the GRH Police outpost registered a case on a complaint from the hospital authorities and were searching for the woman.
