Main accused in doctors' attack arrested

Hyderabad, Dec 26 (UNI) The city police today arrested the main accused in connection with the attack on a female junior doctor and medical officer at Nayapool Government Maternity hospital on December 14, which had triggered flash strike by the junior doctors.

Talking to newspersons here, Charminar Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) B Reddanna said the special police teams had arrested Gousia Begum, who attacked the junior doctor, when her relative died in the hospital while undergoing treatment.

Mr Reddanna said cases were booked under section 147, 448, 353 and 507 against the main accused. Five people were involved in the doctors' attack case, he added.

Three people were arrested on December 16, while the fourth one was held on December 19. The police booked them for unlawful assembly, mischief, trespass and obstructing the public servants from discharging their duties.
