CPI(ML) urges Admn to provide adequate compensation

Puducherry, Dec 26 (UNI) The Puducherry Unit of the Communist Party of India Marxist (Leninist), CPI(ML), today urged the Administration to take steps to provide adequate compensations to the people affected in the recent rains in the Union Territory.

In a statement here, CPI(ML) Secretary S Balasubramanian demanded the Chief Minister to anounce Rs 12,000 as compensation to a hectare of crops lost, Rs1,000 to the BPL people affected in the rains and Rs 5,000 to those whose houses were damaged, in the coming session of the Assembly.

Citing the increased pollution at Ossudu lake here, he urged the Administration to suspend boat riding and the floating restuarent in the lake.
