CPI(M) condemns attack on community and its institutions

New Delhi, Dec 26 (UNI) The CPI(M) Polit Bureau today condemned the organised attacks against a particular community and its institutions in Kandhamal district of Orissa on Christmas eve.

CPI(M), in a press statement issued here, alleged that mobs burnt down 15 religious places and destroyed property in educational institutions.

Khandhamal district has been, for years, the target of communal activities. However, the Orissa government and district administration had failed to take adequate steps to protect the community, it said.

The party demanded immediate measures to protect the community and its institutions in the district by deploying adequate security forces and the arrest of people responsible for the violence.
