Shillong, Dec 26 (UNI) Air Marshal P K Barbora, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Eastern Air Command will take over as Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Air Command on January one, 2008.
Official sources said here today that he would be the first officer ever from the North East to head the largest operational Air Command of the Indian Air Force, fourth largest force in the world.
On the occasion of his handing over charge of Eastern Air Command, the Air Marshal had addressed all Station Commanders in Eastern Air Command on December 24.
He reviewed a Guard of honour presented to him followed by a befitting 'Jaikar ceremony' with a festive-touch paraded by the air warriors on December 26 at Eastern Air Command headquarter here.
Air Marshal G S Kochar, Senior Air Staff Officer, Air Vice Marshal J S Gandyok, Senior Officer-in-Charge Administration and Air Vice Marshal S S Gunashekar VSM, Senior Officer-in-Charge Maintenance were present on this occasion to see off the out-going Air Marshal.
