15 years RI to three for 'ganja' smuggling

Kishanganj, Dec 26: A district and sessions court here has awarded 15 years of rigorous imprisonment to three people for smuggling contraband goods.

Additional district and sessions judge Chandrashekhar Sharma found Jani Sheikh and Wajahan Sheikh, residents of West Bengal, and another Nasir Hussain of Manipur, guilty in the case yesterday.

The court also slapped a fine of Rs two lakh on Wajahan Sheikh and Rs one lakh each on the other two.

According to the charges, police had seized a truck loaded with 'ganja' near Khagra railway station crossing in the district on November 26, 2006 and arrested the accused on the spot. UNI
