Undertrial commits suicide in jail premises

Amritsar, Dec 25 (UNI) An undertrial today committed suicide in the Central Jail here, police said.

According to the police, Baljeet Singh, who was being trialled in a murder case, committed suicide in the Gurdwara in Amritsar Central Jail premises. His body was found hanging from a ceiling fan by a jail staff this morning.

A case has been registered at the Sadar Police Station and the jail authorities are investigating the matter.

After the postmortem, his body was handed over to his relatives.
