Poor visibility causes road accidents in Punjab

Phagwara, Dec 25 (UNI) About two dozen persons sustained injuries in four different road mishaps occurred due to thick fog early this morning around Phagwara.

According to police sources, nine vehicles, including a Himachal Roadways bus, were badly damaged in road accidents on Phagwara-Jalandhar national highway, Phagwara-Goraya, Phagwara-Banga and Phagwara-Zandiala roads this morning.

Most of the drivers involved in the accident were unable to see due to poor visibility beacuse of the fog.

The sources said that seven bus passengers sustained serious injuries while fifteen sustained bruises when a Dehradun bound Himachal Roadways bus rammed into a truck going towards same direction during thick fog near Mehtan bypass.

All the seven injured passengers identified as Karnail Singh, Kuldip Singh, Rakesh sharma, Manveer Singh, Preety, Sham Lal and Des Raj were admitted in Phagwara Civil Hospital.
