MCC organises Marathon for Environment

Chandigarh, Dec 25 (UNI) The Municipal Corporation Chandigarh (MCC) today organised 'Run for Environment' here today for various age groups.

Mayor Harjinder Kaur And MCC Commissioner RK Rao flagged off the marathon at Sports Complex, Sector 7.

While addressing the marathon runners, the Mayor said, "Today corporation's job is not only to provide the basic amenities but also render social services and enhance the public partnership for the development of the city." Later on UT Administration Finance Secretary SK Sandhu gave away the prizes to the winners.

He appreciated the Marathon and said that it was the first sports event organised by the MCC in the city. He assured the Corporation for all kind of support from UT Administration in organising such events annually.

The Marathon was held under various age groups including boys and girls under 15 years, 18 years and above 18 years and senior citizens men of 60 years and above and women of 55 years.

Races in all categories started from the Sports Complex and finished at the lake club at Sukhna.
