Haryana stresses optimum use of canal water

Chandigarh, Dec 25 (UNI) Haryana Irrigation Minister Ajay Singh Yadav has directed all the officers of Irrigation Department to remain vigilant for ensuring authorised supplies of water at tails and to carry out intensive patrolling with the help of police for ensuring canal water upto the tails.

He said that the storage in all the reservoirs was on the lower side as compared to last year and the position of water storage was not comfortable and the state might face water scarcity on failure of winter rains.

He said that in view of the scarcity of water, the channels of Yamunana system including channels of Narwana Branch were being run in four groups of eight days running rotation with total rotation period of 32 days.

The channels of tail BML system and the channels of BML Barwala Link Sirsa Branch System were being run in three groups of eight days running rotation with total rotation period of 24 days.

He said if the supplies did not improve then the irrigation department might have to run the channels of tail BML system and the channels of BML Barwala Link Sirsa Branch system in four groups of 8 days running rotation with total rotation period of 32 days.
