Driver killed after lorry plunges into river Godavari

Rajahmundry, Dec 25 (UNI) One person was killed and another injured when a coal-laden lorry on way to Kothavalasa from Godavarikani plunged into river Godavari, near here today.

Police said the mishap occurred when driver Raju lost control over the vehicle following a nap. The lorry hit the railings of the road-cum rail bridge before it fell into the river.

Efforts were on to fish out the driver's body and the lorry from the river.

The cleaner, who swam ashore was admitted to a Government hospital, police said.
