Cop suspended for raping girl in lock up

Pratapgarh, Dec 25 (UNI) A policeman was today suspended for criminally assaulting a teenaged girl at police station compound here.

On December 16, police had detained the girl along with her lover Anil. After lodging the victim's paramour in the lock up, Jethwara police station in charge Manoj Rai outraged her modesty.

Yesterday, a case was registered against the accused on instructions of Police Superintendent R K Srivastava.

Meanwhile, the station in charge was suspended with immediate effect, DIG (Allahabad range) B P Jogdand said.
