Unani doctors be appointed under NHRM

Bhopal, Dec 24 (UNI) Alleging wide irregularities in the appointment of 'AYUSH' doctors under the National Rural Health Mission (NHRM), the Unani Medical Association (UMA) has demanded that Unani doctors be appointed under the NHRM.

Madhya Pradesh UMA President Yusuf Husseini told reporters here today that 300 contractual posts were being created for rural areas under the NHRM. However, Unani doctors were not even being provided forms for these posts.

He said doctors registered with Indian Medical system could be appointed on the condition of non-availability of MBBS doctors.

However, Unani doctors were not being given appointment.

Blaming the government for encouraging just Homeopathy, Dr Husseini said Unani doctors were not being given appointment despite more than 50 Unani colleges in the state.

He said the Association would launch a statewide agitation if the government continues to ignore Unani doctors.
