Truck causes pile-up accident, Cop among two dead

Rohtak, Dec 24 (UNI) Two people, including a police personnel, were killed and three others were injured as a truck rammed into five vehicles at Mata Darwaja Chowk here late last evening.

According to police, the truck, which went out of control of its inebriated driver, hit two auto-rickshaws and three motor-cycle borne police personnel who were on duty at the chowk.

While an auto rickshaw driver, Anoop of local Balaknath colony, died on the spot, Haryana Police personnel Sukhbir Singh, a resident of Gharwal village succumbed to his injuries in the hospital Another auto rickshaw driver and two other policemen, who were injured in the accident were rushed to the PGIMS for treatment.

The truck driver abandoned the vehicle and fled.

As the news of the accident spread, residents of nearby localities rushed to the spot and blocked the road demanding construction of speed breakers.

The blockade continued till late at night inspite of the assurance by DSP Manvir that their demand would be conveyed to the officers concerned.
