Three drowned as jeep falls in canal

Sheopur, MP, Dec 24 (UNI) Three women of a family drowned when their jeep fell into a canal of Chambal river about eight km from the district headquarters yesterday, while trying to save a cyclist, police said today.

Chakabmudia village resident Sukhvinder Singh and his wife were on way to drop their daughters for appearing in an examination at a private school when the incident occurred.

Sukhvinder Singh's wife Baljeet Kaur (38) and daughters Kuldeep (12) and Sarvajeet (19) drowned. However, he managed to swim to safety.

The bodies were sent for autopsy.
