Man gets 7 years imprisonment for raping niece

New Delhi, Dec 24 (UNI) A local court today ordered seven-year imprisonment and a fine of Rs 3000 to a person found guilty of rape.

According to the prosecution, on August 24, 2004, Laxman, a step uncle of the victim asked her for breakfast and raped her.

He further threatened to kill her, if she disclosed the incident to anyone.

The Okhla police station registered a case under Sections 376 and 506 of the IPC on the complaint of the victim's father. Medical report of the victim had confirmed the rape.

Additional Sessions Judge Ravindra Kaur, after considering the fact that the victim is a minor, ordered seven years of imprisonment and a fine of Rs 3000 on the accused.
