Highway robbers kill truck driver, decamp with vehicle

Badaun, Dec 24 (UNI) A group of unidentified dacoits killed a truck driver in Mujaria area here late last night and decamped with the millet-laden vehicle, police today said.

The deceased has been identified as Bhuri Singh.

According to police, Harikant was transporting 200 sacks of millet from Rajasthan on the truck.

On the way, five robbers in the garb of passengers boarded the truck.

In the course of journey, they killed Bhuri and dumped his body.

The miscreants also assaulted the cleaner and Harikant, besides relieving him of his cash and mobile phone.

Later, the highwaymen fled with the vehicle.

A case had been registered and a manhunt was underway to nab the culprits, police added.
